The Number One Thing Holding You Back From Reaching Your Health Goal

Many times, the biggest hurdle we face when attempting to create a shift in our lives, whether it be related to our health, career, habitual behaviors, or perspectives is not having a clear intention.

Without an intention, we don’t have a clear understanding of what we’re working towards, not neccessarily a goal, but a motivating factor.

Without this, how can we possibly succeed?

Recently, I started working with a talented healer, and he said, “you are someone I want to invest in to help me improve my life, so I can then help others. It’s my favorite thing to do in the world, and I would like to think I’m good at it, so I want to do it for as long as I can." 

Now that’s the start of a great intention!

Having a solid understanding of what’s motivating you is essential, and it’s something you’re able to reference whenever you run into obstacles along the way.

It’s important to evaluate how you, and even those around you, are affected.

Is your lack of energy affecting your ability to exercise or be present with your partner? Is your brain fog affecting your performance at work? Do you have a shorter fuse with your children because of your back pain?  

Getting to the core of why you’re working towards something, your intention, is a crucial component.

Let’s face it, it’s not always going to be easy; you’re not always going to wake up feeling motivated, and there may even be times when you want to give up.

It’s these times that reflecting on your intention can keep you going.

So, how do you find that intention?

You create it!

Here’s a simple way to get clarity:

1. Get into a meditative space.

Find a quiet, warm, and comfortable place. Turn on some ambient music or just enjoy the silence. In this space, let your mind wander, until it starts to quiet.

2. Visualize yourself in your optimal state - health, wealth, family, etc.

In your meditative state, start exploring what it feels like to be here. What clothes are you wearing? Who and what are you surrounded by? What smells are in the air? What time of year is it - what season? What emotions do you feel? The more detailed, the better. Sit with your future self for as long as you like. A powerful way to revisit this space is to record yourself describing this experience out loud; you’ll be able to listen to it whenever you need a boost.

3. Release any expectations and detach from the outcome.

Once you have a vivid picture of your future self, and you feel confident that this IS your future self, start coming back to the present. Reconnect with your present self, and detach from any sense of need or urgency to achieve something. It already exists, and you have the power to to bring it to you - to align with it.

4. Let the universe take over.

Knowing that your future self and present self are one, be confident in knowing that each moment of each day, you are able to make choices that are in alignment with your overall goal. Let each day be an opportunity to be your best self. Your life depends on it.
