If you’ve thought about coming to counseling even once, or think you might want a different type of counseling experience, then it’s probably time! We believe that tending to your mental health is just as important as tending to your physical health; in fact we know that they are interrelated. We have three Mental Health professionals here at VWS who have different types of expertise and are able to meet your needs in different ways. Our therapists use a holistic, collaborative, creative, and client-centered approach, and are able to provide clients with a different experience in therapy - bringing in evidence-based and mind-body techniques, mindfulness, art, and play - in addition to talk therapy.
works with adult individuals living with Chronic Pain and Medical Illness. She is a Somatic or Body-Oriented Mental Health Therapist and trained in EMDR, which means that she utilizes our innate mind-body connection as a tool in counseling. She specializes in, and is passionate about, working with adults of all ages living with Chronic Pain and Medical Illnesses. These almost always have a psychological component, whether it be a new diagnosis or chronic condition. Using EMDR, body awareness, breath-work, movement, as well as talk therapy, Kendall works with clients to manage pain and develop a healthy relationship with their illness. Kendall’s practice expertise also includes anxiety and stress management, depression, life transitions, and support for other helping professionals.

Our brain wave activity affects how we feel, how we perform, and how our bodies respond to stress. It even impacts how our immune system responds to illness. If our brain wave patterns are unhealthy it can result in a number of emotional and physical health challenges. The good news is that our brain is adaptable, and neurofeedback can correct unhealthy brain wave patterns and replace them with healthy brain wave patterns.
Neurofeedback is a form of EEG biofeedback based on the electroencephalogram. It is a scientifically proven brain-based technique that helps clients balance and normalize their brain function.
LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System)
At Vancouver Wellness Studio we use LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System), which works by improving the neural activity of the brain. LENS is FDA approved, is non-invasive and not painful. The electrical current coming from the sensors attached to your scalp is less than the current coming from your watch. LENS works well with symptoms caused by Central Nervous System dysfunction.
Who can benefit from LENS Neurofeedback?
LENS is remarkably effective, and over 85% of people who have used LENS have benefited significantly from it. Results can be seen quickly, often beginning within the first session, and are long lasting. (Visit LENS Resources for research into LENS or download research resources.) LENS neurofeedback is scientifically proven to work with many presenting issues, including:
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Concussions
Cognition and Clarity
LENS can also be used for organic brain conditions such as seizures, the autism spectrum, and cerebral palsy. These are all signs of Central Nervous System dysfunction that result in the body’s difficulty regulating itself. With symptoms of progressive conditions, such as Parkinson’s and MS, the treatment needs to be ongoing to sustain the improvement.
LENS as a Holistic Treatment
We believe that LENS neurofeedback is best used as a holistic approach that is combined with lifestyle changes as well as psychotherapy. As the brain begins to change, neurofeedback results are heightened when clients utilize healthy lifestyle choices, such as healthy nutrition, mindfulness and meditation, and other body-based activities. Vancouver Wellness Studio offers many holistic services for clients to take part in while receiving neurofeedback to optimize their brain health.
Neurofeedback + Counseling
Although LENS can be used as a primary treatment approach, we like to offer it as an adjunct to psychotherapy. We specialize in the combination of LENS and EMDR therapy. This effective duo is especially useful in addressing emotional symptoms such as PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Dissociation, ADHD/ADD, Addictions, Bipolar, panic attacks and much more…
