ACUPUNCTURE & EAST ASIAN MEDICINE

  • Traditional eastern medicine has been used for thousands of years to treat people holistically, often addressing several (seemingly unrelated) symptoms at once to propel them forward into a healthier future, free from pain and prescriptions.

Acupuncture stimulates specific anatomical points in the body in order to clear energy (qi) blockages that can cause pain and illness. Such obstructions accrue through the course of daily life as a result of injury, emotional imbalance, poor diet, invasive surgery, inactivity, lack of rest, and chronic disease. By removing (qi) obstructions, increasing circulation, and reducing pain, acupuncture stimulates the body’s own innate healing mechanisms.

Mental Health Therapy & EMDR

  • Tending to mental health is just as important as tending to physical health. And that the two are interrelated makes it that much more important. Using a holistic, collaborative, creative, and client-centered approach, our providers offer a unique experience in therapy. Sessions can include and be a blend of evidence-based trauma and mind-body techniques, mindfulness, and expressive arts - in addition, to talk therapy.

Our team of trauma-informed therapists are all trained in EMDR therapy. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is considered by trauma experts, including the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense and the American Psychological Association, to be a front-line treatment for PTSD. It is a type of therapy that can help people heal from overwhelming life events that contribute to chronic stress, which can lead to emotional and physical health issues. Therapy begins working immediately and can reduce trauma symptoms in as quick as a few sessions.

Our therapist team also has a unique passion for supporting clients living with chronic pain and medical illnesses. Somatic therapies and EMDR are effective in releasing medical trauma as well as shifting the physical and emotional impact that chronic pain and illness have on a person’s daily life.

Naturopathic Medicine

  • Naturopathic medicine is an approach to healthcare that encourages self healing by removing obstacles to cure and facilitate the body’s ability to recover. It focuses on identifying the underlying cause of illness and addresses an individual on an emotional, physical, and mental level. Naturopathic doctors use a combination of herbal medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, therapeutic nutrition, counseling, and physical medicine combined with allopathic therapies to allow for integrative care.

Naturopathic medicine combines traditional healing methods with modern day science. Naturopathic doctors emphasize disease prevention, treatment, and promote optimal health. By working cohesively with clients, genetic, environmental, and social factors are addressed, in addition to physical concerns in order to create personalized treatments.

Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy

  • What is AIT? It’s an integrative therapy that blends the best of Chinese medicine with conventional and homeopathic medicine. AIT-certified acupuncture physicians inject natural therapeutic substances, such as homeopathic remedies like Traumeel, or vitamins like B-12, into acupuncture points specific to your wellness needs. By stimulating powerful acupuncture points with proven natural substances, we can affect the body on a deeper level and create a healing climate. AIT is an effective pain management treatment for all kinds of musculoskeletal problems, both acute and chronic. In addition to pain and inflammation, AIT can also treat a wide variety of other ailments from general mild anxiety, reproductive concerns, acute and chronic fatigue, post-viral symptoms, seasonal allergic rhinitis, seasonal flu/cold prevention, and autoimmune disorders to name a few.

Many patients get nervous when they hear the word “injection”. AIT uses the smallest available, highest-quality hypodermic needles. AIT feels very similar to general acupuncture and is surprisingly very comfortable to receive. Benefits of AIT include faster results, longer lasting results, direct medication to target areas, avoiding first-pass effect, and enhanced clinical outcomes.

LENS Neurofeedback

  • Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) is an innovative, effective and a natural approach for physical and emotional regulation. LENS neurofeedback optimizes your health and improves your overall wellbeing. Neurofeedback is a form of EEG biofeedback based on the electroencephalogram. It is a scientifically proven brain-based technique that helps to lift suppression in the brain, helping clients balance and normalize their brain function and body regulation.

LENS neurofeedback is non-invasive and not painful. The electrical current coming from the sensors attached to your scalp is less than the electrical current coming from your watch. During the session, two or more electrodes are placed on the scalp and two electrodes are placed on the earlobes. Unlike traditional neurofeedback LENS does not require conscious effort or attention to stimuli. Instead clients may be asked to sit quietly with their eyes closed as their practitioner leads them through a guided meditation. Clients may also benefit by receiving naturopathic care, counseling or EMDR therapy during their treatment.

Clients need a series of sessions for the brain to “hold on” to the changes in the brain. Sessions last on average a few seconds to a few minutes each. The typical recommended number of sessions is 10. More complicated medical issues require longer treatment, up to 20 or more. Most people will see shifts in their nervous system and symptoms within the first 4 sessions.

Clients will complete a thorough history of their symptoms and will track changes as they progress in treatment. Your practitioner will develop a customized treatment plan for you. LENS neurofeedback is best used as an integrated holistic approach to treatment and works well when combined with lifestyle changes, naturopathic care and mental health therapy.
